Yes.   :smt001

I think it's designed to run in heavy current.  Hook a salmon belly, a herring or something else halibut-y on there and let it work.  To be more specific, I think it's something you'd use for Pacifics out of Eureka or Trinidad in 200 to 300 feet of water.

I put it down to see if a ling would attack it with a herring hanging, but I didn't troll it and I didn't have a strong current to work with, so it hung up and down and didn't feel like the best presentation - not to say it couldn't have been hammered by a big ling or rockfish.

In general, and if you're in a good fishing spot like Shelter Cove or the Cape, bigger means potentially better when it comes to tackle and what you want to catch.  Not getting bit as much by smaller fish isn't sad at all when you finally do nail a beast with tackle like this.  It's real - I've caught some big lings on big and gaudy tackle.

B2Squid is one of the top producers and getting very popular in Alaska and other fishing destinations.  My friends Kelly and Lawana Schulz own the company and do all the production from their home.  Everyone at Gimme Shelter gets a B2 leadhead/hoochie in their bag, and they give a nice gift basket to the raffle.  They'll be at Shelter Cove for the gig and have been major sponsors and participants for several years running.

Good luck.

Being an honorable sportsman is way more important than what you catch.

I have caught a couple of Pacific halibut on those big ones with spreader bar and 2lb ball.  I like to tie another hook on because they sometimes short bite.

Yeah I did just that in Trinidad last year in deep water.  Didn't catch anything, but nothing worked anyway

Thanks for the replies. I did pick up a smaller rendition to try out. I also got a nice octopus imitation jig, and some giant Tora tubes.

Big azz bait = big azz fish. Or big azz snag....  We used one in Trinidad last year from a powerboat. 300 fow and got a 50 lbs. Pacific halibut. That was the first big butt I've dealt with. It was a handful😉
