What is the best VHF radio for kayak usage? What would be a good (affordable) VHF radio to consider?

Use the search function on upper right corner of this page and you will see tons of posts in regards to vhf radios. They all covered everything from best brands, affordability, proper care, etc.

Tried search with no feedback or results. Just pulls up my question.

Also, you'll have better luck searching the site in the browser instead of Tapatalk. I believe in Tapatalk you can only search one area at a time. In the browser you can search entire forum in one go.

Yaesu VX-8!!!

What ever you buy, stay away from baofeng.  Those are crap that bleed on to other channels causing huge issues with ham operators.  They are cheap for a reason!  Yaesu and Standard Horizon are my top 2 choices.  Buy once, cry once!!

I like the uniden.  Check Amazon for damage box deals.  Mine was like 120$ but damage box was 75.  Buy one that floats or tie it to your vest with a short cord.  I flipped in spb and mine sank when it came off (which they do pretty easily).
