So I searched through the forum a bit before posting this question.

I am curious how you use your fish finder from your kayak to target fish. For example, when I finally stumble something that looks good, I usually glide on past it (structure/fish), turn my kayak (maybe anchor if I want to hang out a bit), and start throwing different presentations until I find something that works.

I am really just trying to figure out ways to be more efficient when I am not sight-fishing or blind casting to the bank.

Tough to say since every situation is different. If I’m fishing vertically in deeper water I drop my presentation as soon as I see what I’m looking for on the screen. If I’m trolling I adjust my presentation to the depth I marked fish/bait. If I’m casting I note the depth of what I saw and plan my resentation for that depth after passing it and turning around as you described.
