I'm looking at heading to the cove this Sunday for salmon. The forecast looks iffy at best as far as I can tell.

Are there any good pre-season indications that the salmon are around down there? What do ya'all think about Sunday's forecast?

Potentially looking at heading down next Thursday if it's too blown out....

Cheers

Max

They are always at the Cove.  I have caught salmon limits on opening day in April and closing day in November.

I haven't looked at the forecast, but how comfortable are you in snotty conditions?  If you're ok with the possibility of going into the drink and you're confident that you can safely self rescue without putting other people in danger, go for it.  If not, stay out of the water until a better day.

Its truly amazing how many of these posts I see from new members lately.

"Ummm, the forecast looks shitty, but I want to fish for salmon.  Should I go?"

Honestly, these are questions you should be asking YOURSELF if you don't wanna die.

Our crew is probably going to scratch.  It's one of those forecasts that I'd fish if it was tournament day but I'm not making the trip for marginal conditions on opening day when we don't even know if the salmon are there in any kind of numbers.

Unless I wake up at 4am, check the buoy reports, and it comes up lower than forecast.  Then I might go.

It’s looking to be pretty rough.  Better conditions coming up later next week.

Making it about masculinity is a nice touch.

Pretty sure I go way lower than you in a NCKA death pool, but at least you aren’t a pussy who allocates his sparse time between family, work, and play in such a way to maximize his enjoyment and such.
