Weather permitting, i'm looking forward to my first outing (nube).  I took off work the week of April 1st and hope I can possibly meetup with anyone that might be heading out.  I'm coming from Coarsegold, so i'm considering spots between Cambria to Monterey.

I'm not a top water fisherman (yak diver), but I can tell you from experience that if you show up at still water (Pebble Beach, aka Still Water South aka SWS) at 7a there will be a ton of kayakers. That being said, if you are new to it, I would highly encourage you to hook up with someone that would be willing to show you the ropes and give you safety pointers... def should practice self rescue and watch some youtube videos on how to be safe.

Hey Keeneroo, any chance you're getting some water time later this week?

Hey Davey,

I'll be uncharacteristically dry till the later half of April. Got a few tattoo sessions lined up and I can suit up with fresh ink. I'm diving catalina at the end of April and will be back full swing in Monterey County in May.

You should stop by lake barryessa on Saturday at Steele Canyon Camp ground sites #1-22. A lot of NCKA will be there and you can meet people that would def fish/dive with you!

Thanks for the camp out invite, but I have family in town this weekend.  Catalina is so epic.  Will you be doing the two harbors hike and spear, or are you lucky enough to have boat access while you're out there?

My first trip out in salt this weekend (Monterey).  1st...thanks MMBK for taking me out Saturday for my 1st outing.  I managed to catch my 1st rockfish which made my day and the trip from Coarsegold worthwhile.  Also had the pleasure of meeting the Garcia family while out.
Today I went out with Dan and Chris from Monterey/Salinas.  Took a look at Lovers Point (not happening) and decided on CGP.  Stopped in at Chris Out To Sea (Very Good Service!!!).
Once on the water, Dan and Chris took me to a couple of spots without much action.  Dan hooked up on a rockfish that he through back.  I changed my setup to a Pline jig.  One problem, didnt have my weights (nube)....Dan was kind enough to give me one of his (thanks Dan!!!).  I drop the jig down, bounce it....fish on!!!  Felt like a sledgehammer hit my line!  Although I'm a nube, I had an idea what time it was....my first ling!!!
Thanks Dan and Chris and everyone who made this a great experience for me...and also my wife for her support!!!
(Ling was 30.5"/10lbs)

I have kayaks in the Clovis area. May be sometime we can hookup and fish. I am trying to figure this kayak fishing out also. Have had some luck with trout in the lakes. But, would like to try the delta for Stripers.
