Once you have salmon on board you must use only barbless hooks even if fishing for rockfish. Is that the only salmon reg that still applies while fishing for rockfish with salmon on board?

Seriously?

No.  Barbless circles are required if fishing (1) south of horse mountain (Humboldt County) (2) with bait and (3)not trolling.

Of course if you catch a salmon on barbed rockfish gear you must release it, but I don't think that's what you meant.  Been over that ground before.

The question is are any other salmon regs enforced while fishing for rockfish with salmon on board other than barbless.

And also that you must treat the fish with utmost respect as it is the driver of the entire north coast.

So one thing to consider when choosing what to fish for first is regs. IF, you don't want to use circle hooks or barbless hooks when fishing for rockfish, then you should fish for rockfish first.

To the OP, it would depend which region you’re fishing. Most people target salmon first, then go for rockies (if they skunk on salmon). If you do it reverse [rockfish THEN salmon], you won’t be able to troll/fish for salmon in water deeper than 120/180/240/300 feet of water (depending on the RCG regional depth limit). So keep that in mind.
To Ken’s comment, he is correct. You guys probably just assumed he meant/said barbless circle hooks? He did not; he said you must use barbless hooks for rockfish if you have salmon onboard...which IS correct. [setting aside the drifting vs trolling debate] One other thing to consider, since Ken asked, is the salmon reg pertaining to max distance between hooks...if fishing for rockfish with salmon onboard. Maybe.
