It wasn't posted in the Onion and it isn't April Fools Day. I didn't have time to read much beyond the headline, but what I read sounded ridiculous.  However it is about the government.  :smt044

I like the part where they said they may plant dorado and grouper in potholes because it will be salty enough from the runoff from the salted roads.
I wonder if I should bring my 2 speed outfit when I go fishing there  :smt044
"Pedo Viejo" is what Antonio called me.

I'm getting old and crotchety because I see a shameful trivializing of the habitat needs of fish.

I meant that's when they tip their hat to the false report. But yes, potholes was suspect ;P Although, it would make spearfishing easier!

Although I live in Montana, I didn't know that the Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks, presumably in cooperation with the Montana Department of Transportation, has instituted a "microfishing" program of stocking highway potholes with fish.  I'll have to take advantage of this new fishing opportunity.  I know of potholes large enough to float a kayak.

This reminds me: our previous house had a sump drain in the street next to our driveway.  This drain collected water from a couple of blocks of our street.  But the drain got clogged up with sediment, and after a rainstorm or a period of snow melt, a large pond would form which blocked our driveway.  In an effort to get the city to fix the drain, I had my wife take a couple of pictures of me floating around in the pond in a kayak.  While we were amusing ourselves with this photography, the mailman showed up, and I got a couple pictures of him handing me my mail out of the window of his truck while I was sitting in the kayak.  I brought these pictures to a city council meeting, and the public works department finally cleaned out the drain.

The Montana Legislature, desperate to try anything, agreed to a pilot project of 100 pothole fishing spots on State Route 15 south of Great Falls.  However, the experiment got off to a rough start. Despite the road signs informing motorists of the micro fishing locations, many motorists still hit the potholes, causing the fish significant trauma and, in some cases, death.
