Looking for a reliable navigation program that I can apply to my cell phone. Would be using it primarily on the ocean when kayaking as a back up. I’m familiar with the various programs. Just a little lace to start. Thanks

Try this old thread below:

Navionics app is now $15/year and significantly better than it was before.  The old app was retired and is not updated anymore, but it's worth the $15/yr to get the new one.

When I purchased my Navionics map for my iphone, it was a one-time payment of ~$10. I don't use their online community tool. Is there anything in their New app that's worth a $15 annual subscription? I can't imagine the map needing much update because I don't think the coastline is changing much. It seems more like a pricing restructure more than anything else, much like some computer software companies have done... Microsoft, Adobe, Autodesk, etc....

I think you are right.  If you have the $10 app just hang onto it until it doesn't work with the newest iOS.

Do you have to pay the yearly fee? I think you can let the subscription expire and still use the map. You just can’t update it anymore.
