Not quite.  I am thinking half circle only.

I'd prefer the silhouette of the guy in the kayak white on a black zipper hoodie with event title underneath also in white.

This is just a rough draft of what I've done since I don't have the original high resolution picture from Eric yet.  These 2 are just my suggestion but the decision is still rest with Eric.

For what it's worth,
I like the original graphic and think white on black is a great idea

Original paddling icon is great . How about the graphics color in neon green ?  Something different.
