Weather has pretty much sucked so far this year for diving, but it looked like there was a little window the other day, and I had a little chunk of freetime after some doctor's appts so decided to give it a try.

First reef I hit was pretty dead...storms had ripped out all the kelp and the schools of blues and olives that are usually there were nowhere to be seen.  :smt010

Took one blue and moved on and found another pinnacle with a bunch of scallops and took 5.

Then paddled over to some bull kelp I have never explored and jumped in...

After a few drops around some blues a nice sheep came in and I took her.

Was running out of time so just strung the sheep on my belt and started doing drops while heading back to the kayak...right before I got there I found a nice horizontal crack under a big boulder with a nice golden Ling laying in the back.  :smt001

Shot her through the shoulder and out her cheek and swam up to the surface letting the reel line out...after a bit I could tell she had come out from the crack and I just pulled her up and dispatched her. She was spawned out with a saggy belly, so glad I got her after she had laid her eggs.  :smt007

Landed through the surf in between sets, and before I got home ran into Joe Bloodbath who stoked me out by getting a cool pic of me with my fishies. Thanks Joe!!  :smt004

Weather looks like crap again for awhile so glad I got out when I did!

 :smt006

Sincerely,

Jim

Is that liver next to the scallop? If yes, fish liver or from the scallop?
