Interesting, but I don't get how this has anything to do with being self-aware. It kind of reminds me of a bird-brained bird that shows up every summer at my house. That bird constantly attacks the driver's-side mirror on my car, apparently trying to kill it's own reflection. In the process, it craps all over the side of the car.

By the logic of this experiment, it seems to me that if I put a spot on the bird that could only be seen in the mirror, then this same behavior would indicate self-awareness. That makes no sense to me...
