I've been looking around for a used Revolution 13' but they're rather scarce. What is considered a normal price for a used one? Do I need to worry about which model year it is? Thanks!

Price will depend on year and condition so it’s hard to say what is normal in general. The model year matters if the lawn chair style seat is important to you, and you also have to decide how important it is to be able to easily go in reverse. You can save a lot if you’re OK with the old style seat.
Are you pondering what I’m pondering?

1200-1500 for the older style less if you’re lucky  , 1500-1800ish for the older style newer drive, 1800+ for the latest. Those prices seem reasonable. Be prepared to offer an appendage... and  what ever it takes points to urs truly. I know I did.

I've read some complaints about the vantage seats causing the kayak to be less stable than the older style. Might as well save some money and not worry about the issue.

I'm also kind of considering an outback. Hoping to have a kayak rigged and tested before rockfish season opens.

Thank you! That's a big help. Good to have a rough estimate of what I should be paying.

Well the seat is height adjustable, so if you raise it as high as it'll go then yes it's "less" stable.  I keep mine in the lowest position and never really thought about it.

Yup I fell out of mine raised in the highest position. I have lowered it and it seems to be much better. You can go wrong with the outback but it’s heavier to lift.

It's not true.  I felt less stable initially in the Vantage seat but only because I'm used to having my keister planted firmly and in intimate contact with the hull using a butt-pad style seat. The sensation went away quickly during a choppy test drive.  In the end, I didn't upgrade my 2014 Revo to a newer version but it had nothing to do with the seats.

At least sit in the darned things before believing rumors about nasty characteristics.

Maybe so on the lowest setting, but the higher settings raise your CG, as compared to the older style seat. No, I don’t own a Hobie with the newer style of seat, but there has been a lot of discussion of this topic on the Hobie forum (especially in 2015).

In any case, I’m happy with the pre-2015 seat on both of my Hobies, so I’d say it’s a good way to save some money when buying used.
Are you pondering what I’m pondering?

Rarely you could find good deals online. Last week two of my friends bought older model but new Revo 13. 2016 model for $1600 and 2017 model for $2000 from next adventure in Oregon. I believe it was a website glitch. They fixed it on the same day. If I recall correctly, the store has one more 2017 Revo. Might be worth to call them and as for it. Good luck

2015 was the first year Revo 13 got the lawnchair seat. Good deal for a 2008-2014 is $900-1200 and a good deal on 2015-2017 is $1200-1500, depending on condition and accessories included.
There is nothing wrong with a pre-2015 Revo 13. I own a 2015 model but really miss my old 2011 model.

I miss my 2008 Revo 13.... the only reason why I upgraded to the new model, was because of the built in Tranducer supper; because I always forgot to put water in my internal pool noodle transducer well :smt009.

BTW: My 2018 Revo 13 is for sale $2200 w/o FF; $2400 w/FF... just in case your interested  :smt003 (it has winning mojo on it! :smt005)

[also still have a brand new 2018 OK Malibu Pedal for $1400] never touched water yet...

I've owned both Revo 13s with the old and new seat.  The new seat is superior in comfort.  Stability is not an issue if you set it at a low position.
