Another awesome weekend with my NCKA family.  As usual we had an awesome time!  I need a weekend like this every month.  Thanks Ricci for putting this together.

BTW, who was flying the drone Saturday evening?  I was out fishing when it came over me, hovered, then took off like a bat out of hell.  I HOPE it was only a drone...

GREAT EVENT! 

Huge thanks to everyone who facilitated the DOTY/AOTY throughout the year, Pat for probably losing his voice as the MC, the generosity of all the amazing food and 90# pig, for the MBF, to Ron for letting me use his fishing gear since I don't top water, and to Tim for sharing the site and taking me out fishing to show me the ropes of lake fishing. I took some photos below. The first one is what our camp looked like from across the cove. The second one is my very first kayak lake fishing fish - a decent sized smallie! It was a blast to paddle around on water that's not trying to flip you and not needing a ton of gear like wetsuit and weights. The NCKA community is absolutely great.

Keener, I hope you got a pic on the hog trough! Because your DOTY entry fee allows you to compete in AOTY too! That could be another species & raffle ticket for the 2019 competition...

Great times!
I was there for Sat.
Got there at 10a - fished until 12:30 or so - one fish caught.
It was really great to see a bunch of old fishing and chillin buddies!
Congrats to all the DOTY and AOTY playahs!

Ricci thanks for putting this together! You actually put together the first NCKA event that I ever attended too which was also a lot of fun so whatever you’re doing it’s working!

I had a lot of fun. I sure wish I could have camped out and stayed longer, but it was only a short day trip for me.

As far as the fishing goes I couldn’t get the trout to bite but found the bass willing to bite a shakeyhead and the crappie willing to bite a small swimbait. Spent a lot of time throwing reaction baits with no success.

I put together 5 small fish for the MBF (1 crappie, 1 smb, 3 lmb) and somehow managed to win which was pretty neat

I think my work schedule will be changing soon and I hope to be able to attend more of these type of events!
