Insanely beautiful weather in the bay, water was like being on a lake in the sierras, even the current on the outgoing tide was gentle and calm. Spent several hours just floating around enjoying the weather and playful seals.

As for the crab, it was surreal. Every pot came up with mostly Dungeness crab. Most were bigger than the scale. Ending the trip with 7 males on Saturday and 6 males today from a single pot using mackerel and sardines for bait.

All in all a perfect weekend.

Awesome.  Where did you launch and where did you drop traps?

Awesome.  Where did you launch and where did you drop traps?

Launched out of lawsons landing and set the trap in the channel near the mouth of the bay on the east side of the channel

“I’m going fishing.”  They said, “we will go with you.”

That's a lot of crabs in one pot!  I was planning to go out in Tomales today but had too much work :smt010 :smt010

I’m thinking about doing a combo trip Saturday. Crab pots in the am, pumping shrimp in the pm minus tide.  I’ve fished Tomales in similar winds, but never near the mouth with the predicted swell.  Any 1st hand knowledge would be great?

Right! But is the swell gonna ruin my day if I stay inside, just west of the pier?
