Hey guys MakoNick here. Decided to fish from shore last week with a fellow NCKA member for Dungies in Pacifica.  Didn't feel like hauling out the kayak but I wish I did.  The conditions were like glass and it was an above average day for crab.  We ended up with 5 males and threw back a legal female as well. Not bad for a 3 hour trip.  Here is some footage of the day. Skip to 10:15 for the fishing.

Nice going.  Look like a good day snaring.  Man, snaring crab is a lot easier than taking the kayak out.  Was this last week sometime?  No surfers means pleasant swells.

Nice looking crabs, If you use a pole to catch crabs can you use another pole to catch perch at the same time. Essentially your using two poles.

Thanks guys.  As far as I know, you are allowed as many poles / pots for crabs as you want if you can handle them safely.  You are still only allowed to keep 10 per day.  The rules are different on a jetty or pier regarding how many poles you can use.

Excellent report. Love the video and the advice you gave the guy who caught the eel.

Man you spent more time thinking about crab snares than anyone I know. I'd like to test your theory about snares upright with a side by side test. Although your logic sounds good.  And what do you use to crimp the lines on your snares?  Anyway, great video, thanks for sharing, thanks for some deep thought about the design of those things. Keep it up!
