sorry for super late report. new to forum and have been trying to post. well went out on sat morning to try out new boat (got two weeks ago) with solsrf1 and buddy joe (he got his boat a week ago). needed to get on water before the tourney the next day. got to the spot at around 8 on the water by 8:30? drifted around the kelp beds for a while. after the other two getting quick hits, i was thinking i was in for a long day. but next thing you know, started getting bites. finally hooked into something heavy, put up a good fight for a minute or so, and when i saw color it ended up to be a 17 1/2" cabbie. after a couple more hours of catch and release, we called it a day. ended up keeping two other fishes, solsrf1 kept 5 and joe kept 4. they were combo of olives and blues. good practice for the tourney, but i think i used up all my luck that day, because i got nothing in HMB. Thanks to all who set up the tourney i still had a great time.

nice report and it looks beautiful out there. what a way to torture your cat though, fish laying all over and all he can do is hang out by the catch!

i just barely noticed.  In that top pic there's a diver in the background.  Can you just dive in right there?  Looks like very nice water

That is a great place to dive according to the people I have spoken to on the beach.  It is in the Pacific Grove reserve so there is no take of shellfish and I am not sure but fin fish may also be limited to hook and line only.  The F&G regs include a description of the restrictions which extend to a dept of I believe 60 fow.  There are some nice pinnacles just outside the cove to the west or north west that are good fishing and diving when the sell is down.  They often produce breakers and boils in a larger swell.

I remember this place well...the last time I was out there was with Chef. We were after Salmon at the time, although we didn't catch any that day, It was just nice "being there"  :smt002

Adam,
You're just gonna have to go for it man!

Coral St can be nasty but it should generally be doable until September/October. Let us know when you're ready to take the plunge (pun intended).

Sorry for the total thread-jack chicknofh20!
Thanks again for the great report and pics!
