For Better or Worse We'll Have New Regulations

The Feds will be reviewing regulations.

You never know what their up to..."collecting data"...always sounds so caring on the surface while trying to preserve that 100 billion dollar economy...oh...and the fish of course...MPA's here we come? 

sponsored by a senator from Mississippi where the commercial regs. make it difficult for recreational anglers , where attracting tourist $  would make it better  revenue wise , an already economically depressed state  interesting , how it may impact cal. will be interesting

The current rules are designed for commercial fishermen and are difficult for recreational anglers to follow, Wicker said. There are also a host of other tweaks designed to more efficiently manage recreational fishing. "

We've got a complex web of international and tribal treaties to contend with.  I think this is aimed mostly at the red snapper fishery in the gulf.  Lots of pissed off rec anglers steam over that fishery.

"Modern" Fish Act?  Modernizing Recreational Fisheries Management Act of 2017?  I wonder if historians of the future will chuckle and think we were an arrogant generation. 

By the way, I hope they put some regs in regarding commercial bait fishing.  Those guys go in an haul up baitfish by the truckload.  Without our little friends the whole eco system can't flourish.

Not sure how the LAPs are supposed to work, but the increased data collection seems like a good idea to me. I’ve been surveyed many times at the dock and have always thought that that data is unreliable. A lot of important decisions are probably based on semi-random numbers...

I wonder if it will eventually tie in with that attachable computer rod sensor thing I posted on a while back. In the article a guy said they wanted to know what boats were charging and how much fuel was used. How does that help manage fish?
