After reviewing many reviewing many different products and suggestion from this site, I decided to used JB Weld to protect my kayak keels and hulls.
Purchased J-B Weld 8281 Professional Size Steel Reinforced Epoxy Twin Pack, 10-Ounce (6 Pack) from Amazon.com after discussing with the manufacture.  For Revolution I used 2 packs and for Oasis used 3 packs.  Took me 2 hours for the project and will updated after the next fishing season to let you know how it performs.

  • Mark area using masking tapes
  • Used plastic spoons to mix two parts together
  • Apply and spread using a silicon spoon purchased from Dollar Tree
  • Removed the tape after 5 hours and it was touch dry - press the edges for seal

That looks great!  It will be good to see how it works in practice.  Hopefully you can post a few pictures.

That'll be bulletproof...
Are you pondering what I’m pondering?

Has anyone tried line-x? I was thinking about having my PA sprayed in some sections.  That stuff is tough in a truck bed.

Thanks for the photos. I have the same yak and will need to do some fortifications at some point. I have a lot of experience using JB weld. It’s great stuff.

I did that on the bow and stern of my outback. It has been dragged a bit on boat ramps for a year and a half with only minor repair to the JB. It gets more like scuff marks rather than gouges in the plastic.

FYI
Something I learned after the Landlord hit my yak where I had applied JB Weld.
If you think you roughed the surface up enough before application, you very well may not have. You also may have missed the edges.
After the impact, the weld simply pealed away in many areas. When reapplying I made sure to mask off a larger area than needed, then, after rough sanding, I marked off an area 1/2" smaller before applying the weld. This ensured that the hull was roughed up all the way to the edge of contact.

I will make sure to rough sanding prior to applying JB Weld for my future projects.

Thank you.

Ask Alfredo how that stuff worked out
J.B. Weld seems to last longer, although it may need occasional touching up.
