Hey guys,

I've done the fishing thing in British Columbia last year and that was a great time with lots of salmon and halibut. I'm going to Alasaka for 15 days in 2020 which will include fishing in the rivers and ocean, and a lot of hiking.

But we're trying to plan something for 2019 Julyish. June-August really. Right now our inclination is to go back to Winter Harbor BC since we felt like we could have spent more time in that area (we were mostly on the Port Hardy side). But I'd like some other ideas and who better to ask than a bunch of fishermen I know.

I'm indififerent to whether it's kayak fishing or boat fishing. The only criteria is no long range trips (rules out most of SoCal / Mexico tuna trips), around $5k per person (a little more is OK, less is better), and no more than 12 hours of travel time (Ruled out a lot of things unfortunately, such as New Zealand and Thailand)

Very interested to hear what you all come up with outside the standard Mexico Tuna / Alaska/Canada Salmon trips. It looks like the Alaska limits are kind of crappy for 2019 (only one king annual limit..?) so I'm inclined towards fishing Winter Harbor if we can't come up with anything cooler.

We're quite content doing CNR fisheries so it doesn't have to be a meat farming trip.

Always looking for new people to fish with!

What about panama or something in warmer waters? I’m doong a SE AK trip July 2019, and likewise am already thinking ahead to future options. I have a lot of interest in trying for tarpon, roosterfish, barracuda, tuna, dorado, yellowfin, and loads of other tropical pelagic species (not as interested in marlin/sailfish). If I find anything worth checking out i can PM you

Go to the upper midwest and fish for northern pike. They are obsessed with walleye fishing in that area, so the pike fishing gets little pressure, and yet it's way more fun. There is also some world class (and also underutilized) smallmouth fishing and, in some areas, you could even have a good chance at a musky...

+1 This is so true. Lots of guides there also. Cancun also has some nice flats fishing. A lot of variety of fish species.
