So Christmas and my birthday came a little early this year. Sam went out and surprised me with a new 2019 outback  :smt007 :smt007 I have no idea what I did to deserve that, but she’s the best!

I spent the day getting somewhat rigged up. Really all I did was add a fishfinder and played around with how I’m going to store and carry my gear.

My first impressions are that it has some really great features. Tons of storage, I may not ever need a crate again. I’m not sure how I feel about the guardian transducer yet. I may end up just leaving it in the fixed position instead of messing with the up/down pull. It’s not super easy to put on my truck racks solo, but I can do it.

I’m taking it to lake Sonoma tomorrow for stability testing and self rescue practice. Also performance testing and some fishing. I’ll report back with further impressions.

A little wind and a little chop on the lake. It rides drier than my 2015 revo and seems to be as dry as sams 2017 outback. It cruises easier than my revo. Trolling 2 rods with divers at 2.5-3 mph with less effort than my revo took. It’s much quieter than the 2017 outback which I hated due to the hull slap noise. Top speed is about the same as the revo. The pliers holders perfectly fit a bottle of pro cure scent which is nice.
