You can get navionics on your phone for $25. Not as good as having it on your plotter but better than nothing. What will you use more? Side scan or detailed maps that allow you to find bottom structure etc without having to paddle over it.

thats the delima,i do alot of shallow water fishing 10-20' i like tge sidescan idea but having tge ducer sit out of the cavity of the yak,im thinking one wrong slip and the ducer or tge hull can get jacked up.i mostly do lmb and stripers

Thanks for the tip. I recently bought a new kayak and was going to buy a second transducer so I could just transfer the head unit between them, but at that price I might was well get a whole new fish finder.

Anybody know if you can mount this transducer in wet bath?

So i was installing my ff and as with all electric connections i always put some dielectic grease on the connectors.DO NOT DO THIS on the hook2 5.i found out the hard way as its a friction contact so now with grease in the fittings the cables will not stay connected(keeps popping out) so needless to say ive been pulling my hair out trying to get the grease out.after q tips, paper towels, soap, hot water(tap)clorox spray ive got a good amount out and its statrting to slightly hold.so tomorrow ill go pickup some alcohol and try to get the rest out

That's crazy I was just going to post something about my hook4 Lowrance. I've been having issues with my screan for many outings where I've been running without using it I have no idea how to fix that and worked great for 3 years and all the sudden my transducer hit one too many rocks or something when I loaded it on top of the truck any advice on how to fix my Lowrance would be useful overall the fish finders just dark and fuzzy or no reading whatsoever I've tried adjusting to my buddies Fishfinders setings and it's still just has this dark blue contrast and the only thing that I can possibly think i damaged the transducer and please excplain angle specs if some one knows

I noticed this too when I put dielectric gel on the connectors. The older connectors we're screw on but these stick right in and the dielectric gel makes them slide off.

Same!

The fix is to pop the O ring off. The extra grease will push out.
