Plan on launching at Russian Gulch State Park around 730 am tomorrow, Wednesday 11/13. Will be fishing for lings and rockfish. Radio 69 grey ram truck and olive revo 13. Company welcome.

Report:

Well nobody could come out to play, but that’s alright. The forecast called for a 2ish foot swell at 13 seconds and low winds. It was absolute glass out there all day! It was cool and hazy with the smoke. The water was clear with 15+ foot vis and there was very little drift.

The highlights of the day are a 22inch verm on my first drop, at least 20 lings landed, 1 of which was a 33 inch hitchhiker that sucked on a 15.5 inch greenling that ate my jig, tons of rockfish that were released, and a bonus halibut! I ended up keeping 2 lings, 2 verms, 2 cabs, and the halibut.

What did the butt bite on?

It bit that stupid pink bucktail that is in the Greenlings mouth. I bought a bunch of them on sale a season or two ago and it’s been rattling around the bottom of my tackle box. I figured I should use it and maybe if I lost it I wouldn’t have to carry it around anymore. Well now I need to go buy more because all of my fish came on it!

And who knew there were halibut there! I was cruising along looking for structure when I saw a big bait ball on my screen. It was flat with no structure but I figured that if bait was around fish might be too! Drop to the bottom jig a few times and pull a halibut up. I was so confused, just thinking I know what this feels like but there is no way that is what it is!
