Going in guys...picking up a Pacific Action Sail 1.5m to assist me in my journeys...hope it goes well...otherwise I may be offing it for a discount but unlikely because of the hope I have for it being an effective tool... :smt006

I had fun yesterday with SimplyCook, 11/8/18 flying on the now inaugurated Kraken, bring on the bubbly...
Forgive me for the occasionally often mental commentary...highlight gusts at 5:32, 7:38, 10:00

Resistance is futile my friend. Move to the dark side and all your problems will go away.

Looking forward to hearing how it works out. My experience is that planning a sailing trip is a good way to ensure that there will either be too much wind or it will be dead calm.

Yes, I have alot more head trips going on with direction and location, not excluding tide.  Best case scenario will unfurl at china camp or paradise tomorrow... :smt006

Don't forget to register your "sailboat."  The CA DMV needs money for the bullet train.

Ha ha. I’m sure every AI owner has been in that same boat, so to speak...

I used the small Hobie sail for a couple of years before getting the AI. It was easy to carry that sail and easy to manage on the water, so virtually no down side to bringing it along. And under the right conditions, it could make that long trek back to the launch a lot more fun. Also could be used for trolling, but always found that challenging, whereas sail trolling (strolling?) is a piece of cake on the AI.

I don't like stuff that sucks.

Im not the DMV, but what I read seems to me that you do not have to register your kayak because it has a sail.

Here is why I think that.

Is there a exemption from registration for any vessel less than 19 and 1/2 feet in length without any motor and is not a motorboat (such as a sailboat powered by sail alone and no use of any motor)?

Yes. Those boats are exempt from registration.

Found here:  https://www.ct.gov/dmv/cwp/view.asp?a=801&q=253552

That’s from the state of Connecticut, taxifornia is a bit different.

“Generally, every sail-powered vessel over eight feet in length and every motor-driven vessel (regardless of length) that is not documented by the U.S. Coast Guard which is used or on the waters of this state are subject to registration by the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). “

Actually you just saved me some bucks, it is less than I thought and every two years and weird odd even year differences in price?  Let me know what you deduce from this link... :smt006
