Just kind of something to think about if you are applying a boat rul-r for a measuring device.
Its my favorite and Ill be replacing my current sticker but I think that the sticker paint is disolved by sunscreens. I realize that the area gets rubbed alot but it is worn away faster when I have alot of sunscreen on.  Any ideas on a good clean clear coat to help preserve it?

Maybe just a good clear packing tape. Not the cheapy stuff you get at Target or something. 3M makes a thick vinyl tape that I think would really hold well. It's kind of like a sticker. I'll let you know if I find the name for it.

thanks Z      i may try to cut it so that its is just slightly larger than the rul-r sticker.  "She" keeps trying to convince me to use nail polish.

I'm not sure if this would work, but it may be worth a shot. When I build fishing rods I spray a coat of Krlyon acrylic over any gel pen lettering I have on the blank before I put the rod finish on. Without the acrylic the lettering just dissolves, but with a light coat of acrylic it always holds up to the rod finish perfectly. I would imagine that the spray acrylic would protect the ruler numbers from sunscreen too. You can get it at Michaels or Ace Hardware.

Terry, I have noticed that the non-greasy alcohol based sunscreens will really eat up the Rulr as well as some other things.  Come by and I'll give you a replacement, I just got a fat order.
