OK, so normally I wouldn't do this, but I am pissed. I took my 3 week old outback in to be leak tested at CCK in Rancho Cordova after it took on 4.2 gallons (yep measured it)  on it's first outing. They couldn't find a leak which sucked but what pissed me off was the condition it was returned in. The hull was pristine when I gave it to them 5 hours prior to when this photos was taken (this is just one side, there are more on the other side). They put several long deep scratches in the hull and when questioned about it, they admitted fault and basically told me "shit happens". They refused to do anything about it or compensate me in any way at all. "Apply heat and see if you can melt them back together".

Wasn't there an identical post of this last year?

I'd say they owe you a new boat, mate!

What if it was a car that came back with scratches? (Except yaks don't get a paint job...)

Yeah shit happens, and if I do it, I live with the consequences.

If you do it YOU live with the consequences!

My 2¢

ps I agree.  "Apply Heat"  But apply it to CCK....  In fairness, the CCK problems sometimes are resolved once they get to the owner Keith. Give it a try, then small claims court. I can loan you a boat in the meantime if you need it- don't use yours.

Hey, missed this part. Thanks for offer!

Any idea how to get in contact with the owner? What store is he out of?

Thanks, I emailed him. If I don't get a response, I'll give the oakland store a call and see if I can get a hold of him.

You could also post this on the Hobie Kayak forum. I think key individuals from Hobie monitor the site. This whole deal feels pretty upside down.

They already admit fault so there's no need to go this route. I'm sure the owner will resolve this somehow.

The store admitted fault but refused to do anything about it. We'll see what the owner says if anything.

Wait for the owner or JT to respond. They corrected my issue once.

That sucks man.  I still can't believe it leaked that bad!  I hope it's an easy fix.  And I hope cck makes this right.  Those aren't anywhere near normal wear and tear scratches rendering your new boat less valuable

Since this damage has made it Less Valuable, I'll give you $100 for the Scrap-Yak Lol!!!
Seriously though,
Keith and Tammy (Owners of CCK) are stand up people, Give them a chance to make it right before trashing their business name.
I have faith all will be resolved when you two connect.
Good Luck
;0)

P.S.
I had much worse scratches after my first outing in my Revo … Heat Gun and 5 minutes tops

[[CASE CLOSED]]

I talked to Keith at CCK. He took care of it and is replacing the kayak. I guess it came down to a poor decision of one of his employees, shit does happen I guess.
