Hi to everyone and thanks to those who work hard to put this site together. I'm sure it will be a great resource. I'm Mike from the Placerville area. I also spend quite a bit of time in Sac/American River, the Peninsula and East Bay area. I have a fair amount of kayak experience and quite a bit of fishing experience but for some reason I am just now combining the two.I am newly retired and get out on the water quite a bit so I'll probably post some fishing reports for those interested. Anyone one interested in getting together for any midweek Kayak fishing adventures in the areas mentioned(or anywhere) can feel free to contact me.

Hi Mike, I have a Placerville address but I'm actually outside the city limit and would identify my home as being in Diamond Springs. If you ever want to do some fishing (local or otherwise) especially midweek, hit me up. I'm out on the water all the time

What do you fish for in the American River and where do you fish mostly? Mostly stripers and in areas from el manto down. Grist mill and paradise beach seem to produce and all the way down to discovery park. I have been mostly fishing those areas from the bank but I am a recreational kayaker and want to fish more during my kayaking trips. I really don't know what I'm doing so I have been mostly throwing spooks and pencil poppers in the morning or evening and also using hair raisers to try my luck in a few different holes. I have gotten lucky using those techniques quite a few times
