Had a great spring of playing in the sand and was able to spear 10 halibut...

Kept diving and pounding the sand in the summer 2/3 times a week and got 14 more, and three trigger fish, a barred sand bass and my biggest butt to date from the #831 at 34.25 inches and ~18 pounds.

Have been seeing less and less fish as time goes by and to be honest I'm pretty sick of staring at sand so think I might be done for the year...

I keep track of stuff, so know that the 24 butts I took totaled 601 inches, for an average size of 25 inches.

Before this year I had only ever managed to spear 7 total between 2009 and 2017...

Put together a vid of some of my favorite footage...hope you like it!

Also, attached a few of my favorite pics.

How'd you cook the triggerfish?

How'd you cook the triggerfish?

We did a ceviche with the first one and it was reallllly good.

Will do the same with the two I have in the cooler right now...heading to Bakersfield this afternoon for my father in law's birthday so will be plenty of mouths to feed.  :smt001

What's the chance of you doing a video on how to get all that extra meat outside of the fillets?

Off the coast of Norway, Daniel Johannson catches, tags and releases this massive 462 pound halibut. But before he lets it go he jumps into the water with his dry suit on to let it go. This is the largest halibut that has ever been caught then released on record.

Dam, what did they use to catch something that massive. Glad they let it go.
