I'm a bit late, so gotta buy one quick.

I'm coming to my source of good info, NCKA for help.

do I want the Pentax Optio W30, or the Olympus Stylus 770s?

I know the Olympus is more waterproof good to 33 feet, but i don't think I'll ever get that deep..... I like simple. Despite a massive intelligence that compliments my sparkling personality, I'm kind of lazy with gadgets.

Help us Obi-wan, your our only hope.

I want to make an order tomorrow online, so I'm looking for the best price as well (of course)

thanks guys and gals

Allen

Hey Allen,

I just bought the W30, got what I believe is a pretty decent deal on Amazon.  Wasn't too impressed at first but it's really starting to grow on me.

As you mention...the extra depth isn't really to helpful to us in most cases.  Although it is nice to think that the camera can withstand a drop from 5 feet.

When I was speaking to the salesman over at Best Buy about the olympus he mentioned that the lens on it is superior to the optio...but then again he was trying to sell me the olympus.

Unless you want to spend the extra ~$120 I'd stick with the Optio.  I think the W30 is a bit more compact too.

Shutter speed 1/2-1/2000 sec
For action shots you can stop rain drops as they fall or shoot pictures in candle light.

Plus I can sit on the damn thing and not hurt it.
But that's just my opinion :)

When do you need it? I can get it with out the tax but leaving for SD in the AM. Call me if you can wait until HMB. same holds true for the Pentex no tax.

Just make sure Abe's isn't selling you a gray market item, that is, something with an international warranty that is not enforceable in this country...you'd have to send it back to, say, Tokyo, for service. Gray market items usually sell for cheaper prices.

Oh, and by the way, I know of some who have been burned by Abe's.

I believe the average going price for an Optio online is around $265.

How So?  Abe's was recommended to me by a Professional photographer and he buys all his High End Nikon gear there and has been very happy.
