Took July off from making videos to spend some time with the family. We did head north and fish the Eastern Sierra range in early July and spent the 4th up there. Got to take Ben fishing for some Gills and small bass in a pond which had a pretty much instant bite on the mealworms.

Also rented a boat with Marys Dad to scoot around Crowley and found a pile of Sac Perch and loaded the basket with about 15 of them which filled my Yeti 20qt.

Perch were coming on the 2inch Big Hammer swimbaits, these perch nail the bait probably harder than anything for there size.

Best bite for me trout wise was in the creeks.

Man you brought back a lot of memories for me with those trout videos. Dang salmon eggs??? Haven't used those since the invention of powerbait.  :smt001

I used to frequent the eastern sierras a lot when I was growing up and honed my trout catching skills up there. I miss trout sometimes, but these dang huge bluegills we get here in Texas are fun on an ultralite

Nice. Went out to the Eastern Sierras last year with some friends. Had everything you could think of worms, spinners, jigs you name it we had it. Best bait by far were those dam salmon eggs. We had a pot going biggest fish for lakes and biggest fish or streams $10 by in for each. I won the stream on salmon eggs.

Salmon eggs in the creeks are pretty hard to beat, sometimes a crawler keeps up with them but usually its the Salmon Eggs that gets the big numbers and some decent fish as well. Love fishing it in the fast water.
