South Lake Tahoe fishing.

I'll be in south lake tahoe next week staying around stateline. I'm thinking of topping the kayak out there to fish a day. South/South East side only.

Is it worth my while?
Best place to launch to feel a tug on my line?
VHF channel used up that way (emergency and recreational)?

Any tips and insight appreciated.

 

You should be able to launch at the Tallac site. Can't say about the bite. As I recall there is a bit of sand and I decided it would be easier with sand wheels.

Almost all the boat fishermen are launching at cave rock just north of zephyr Cove and there fishing north . As for vhf I asked for a radio check on 68,69&70 with no response.
I'm working in south Lake Tahoe and every day theres 4-6 fishing boats at cave rock launching or already fishing. Many in the middle of the lake. I did see a kayak out there last week with a net.

Is this a recent and reliable source? I'm game for bass fishing too. As long as I feel that tug love.

I heard it thru the grape vine awhile ago never tryed myself but looks like prime habitat.  Do somee digging probably not somethng advertised.  Or thought much of. if i remember it ws kinda a local thing to do.  Personally i wouldent bother on the lake for the other bites but thats just me........

I think you're showing Kiva - it's a good place to launch and there's not really a hill.  Sand wheels will help a lot.  Trolling for kokes less than a mile out should be good - you'll see the powerboat fleet on them.  Slow troll a Wedding Ring or Ford Fender - I think they were like 60 to 80 feet down in 120 to 200 feet of water.  Caught a mack that way too a few years ago.  Good luck. 

Baldwin Beach, just a little bit past Tallac is also a good option.  Parking lot is very close to the beach and it's a doable paddle to Emerald Bay as you troll for kokes.  http://www.tahoepublicbeaches.com/baldwin-beach/

I'm looking into the lot west of your picture. If you zoom out there is another lot there that leads to the beach.
