Seabass marks the spot!

A few months back I was contacted to create a piece that has been kicking around in fishing conversations for a while.

It was to be a "something special" piece to mark the driveway on a fisherman's house.

first step was a sketch and approval from the customer. Then it was off to the yard to get some 2x12 redwood and some sheet aluminum.
then came the stencil:

Next up was cutting out the various pieces and some test assembly

(it turned out so METAL I was throwin the goat)

then came paint, base coats and detail work

 

finally, poly coats and complete assembly, and the addition of the lil' squid

there's no mistaking that a fisherman lives here!

Looks great.  I would probably put in my shop or man cave.  I would be afraid it would get stolen out front.

Indeed, that fear was part of the build. I didn't want it to get ripped off.
There's no way it will be removed without some serious tools and noise. Installing it was a bit of work in itself!
