Hey all!  :smt006

New member in El Cerrito. Been kayak fishing for only a couple of years now, mostly bass in the delta and a couple of crabbing trips.  Recently upgraded to a Moken 12.5 and am looking to expand to halibut on the bay and rockfish on the coast.  Looking forward to learning more and maybe meeting some other members along the way.

May not always catch a big fish off the kayak. But will always catch an adventure.

Welcome.  I'm in El Cerrito as well, live right by BART Del Norte.  I fish weekly for striped bass and halibut.  You're always welcome to join me.

More of a Plaza guy  :smt002 but sure, i’m down for joining others in the area. Usually off on Sundays and Mondays. Ive been looking at Ferry Point or Berkeley Pier as first time spots trying for Halibut

I like the plaza too.  Before I got married, my wife and I used to live behind the Oreilys, that small neighborhood by Paciific east mall.  Great place to walk to everything.  But the rent prices double and we moved a bit north to buy a house with more room for our kid and dogs.  The price we were paying for a 1bd/1bath apt was 2/3 our current mortgage on our house.  Triple the space and more room for my yaks/gear.

I would recommend Ferry Point or Marina Bay as your first outing rather than Berkeley Pier.  Mainly because conditions at BP can go south very quickly with winds and currents.  FP and Marina Bay have protection from Brooks Island.  I can meet you at either Ferry or Marina Bay and show you a few good spots.

👍🏽 For sure

PS do you find yourself spoiled by Monday’s off, getting angry that the line in the grocery store might be longer than one person?  :smt013 :smt003

I like going fishing in commute traffic knowing I'm going fishing.  Usually I never see it though.
