Brian, we just gotta go 1st thing in the Friday Morning before the wind picks up...  I wanna go Fort Ross because more protected.  If I don't see you tomorrow meet me at Farm house 4:30am.  Anyone else!?

Yesterday, Saturday looked the best.  This morning they were calling for 10-20 kts Fri-Sun and early Friday morning looked pretty good, but now the latest forcast just came out and Friday looks like a big mixed swell with a short period and 15-25 kts winds.     However, Sunday is looking much better.    I guess I'm still waiting, and I'll see what tonight's forcast calls for before deciding about tomorrow.

If you have verizon, there are a couple places it'll work. Real small places... first one is the overlook just north of Russian Gulch. Go to the parking lot and climb the small hill and if you turn just right, you'll get three bars. Next spot is the parking lot at Salt Point Park. (best if you climb that small hill too.) When I had AT@T it worked in Guerneville, and a couple of the points on the high overlook where all the slides have been worked on. Helps if you walk out to the very point of the pullout. Verison also works in most of Sea Ranch. Handy to know if you really gotta make a call or check your messages. They definetly need to put up a cell site somewhere along there.

As always, if it looks too dicey, we're staying dry and live.

If you really need to make a call, the gas station in Fort Ross (about a mile north of the park) has a pay phone.  I think the convenience store at Ocean Cove does as well.

As of the 8 pm forcast, Sun and Sat look bad and Sunday is still looking good.  Looks like I'm not going Friday morning and will wait and see about Sat and Sun.

so 11pm & I just went to check on the beach.  not much wind yet & only small swells...  it seems pretty good, so I'm going tomorrow early morning to Fort Ross.
This Sunday looks very good and Brian called me & he decided to go on Sunday, but I have to work this weekend, so I have to go there tomorrow.
If you're at there, I'm on Ch 69!

Right now I'm thinking Sunday. If I go, I'm planning on putting in at Salt Point. Two reasons, 1) better fishing close by, 2) half the launch fees. I used to launch my PB at O. C. and run up the coast to Salt Point, now I drop my yak in and I'm there in a couple minutes.

I just checked the N. Coast forcast and Saturday has been revised and is looking better.  I will probably PB fish out of Bodega for Salmon, but it looks favorable for kayak rockfishing both days now.

If I can get all the work done that I need to get done on Saturday, I think I'll day trip it to Fort Ross on Sunday.  Any San Jose area peeps want to carpool?

I think Fort Ross on Sunday morning is still my plan.  I may grab some abalone in the morning as well.  Hope to you see you there.

hows the launch at fort ross? still a newbie when it comes to surf launches. how far is the drive from the bay area?

The launch is pretty protected and not an issue unless the swell is either big from the south or enormous from the N.  The forcast for Sunday is neither.

Brian, I'll be there around 6-6:30-ish.  I don't have a radio with me as I left it is Seattle.  I'll probably head north towards the 80-100 foot line near the seal rock.  Unless I run into those surface rockies Nao saw.  Then I'm busting out the light rod and a big ol' surface popper.
