Special thanks to all of the NCKAs who made a couple rookies feel welcome at ARW on Saturday. Your help and patience with all of our questions and prying eyes was most appreciated. Now that we've had a taste, I'm sure we'll be out again... we had too much fun not to give it another go!

Thanks again,
Kurt and Ryan

Here, here..  Thanks to Rick aka rickloheyde for letting my newbie buddy use your Necky Zoar and making him feel at home.  Kurt and Ryan, glad you had a good time and hope to see you out on the coast!

Thanks also to Duane and Chuck and saturday's champ Adam for sharing/passing the bait around!  Way to boat a hali on an ugly day Adam!

Me and Rick fished for naught but a nice windy paddle..  My buddy Nate landed a shorty hali ~ 15" and got towed around the bay for a good while by a big ray.  he had a lot of fun and wants to do it again too.

As for me, I am 0 for 2 in the bay and looking fwd to RF season opener, and seeing what the forecast has in store for next weekend.

Hi there :smt006  I've been fishin from a yak for some time now but never have had the time to post.  I was out in my friends boat west of the rockwall for a couple hours on saturday and just wanted to say that you guys and gals looked real good out there.
Congrrats to Adam on the beautiful hali.  Cafecraig, have we met somewhere before, I think we have, if I would have known, i would have come in to say hi.

Well, I hope to hook up with you guys soon.  There are quite a few of you whom I think are total bad asses.  I would love to be able to tagalong with you.  bananayak

Bananayak, hey, thanks for posting and welcome to the board!  Yeah next time just paddle up to any of us, we're a social bunch, especially after a few beers!

Hmm...  I don't know if we have met before.  Your photo there is kinda small so it's hard to tell!   :smt085

I am sure I will see ya out on the water again.  join anytime, keep an eye on the hookups!

Woohoo, FisHunter! :smt007 WTG! How many miles for this one? I've been salivating over the halibut so I broke down and bought a saltwater rig. Hope to join you guys soon!

Got my first PIECE of BUTT!!  FINALLY!!  I found her between the "wall" and the "pole"!!  I noticed my pole gettin twitchy as I passed the area.....last time i missed all 5 of the takedowns and was determined to....do the same thing, because there's not much to do except GIVE IT LINE!!  and so I did.I opened the bail and feed it a good 4-5 pulls....and then I....waited somemore....and then I.....waited a lil more and saw the line headed in the opposite direction, so I reeled in softly until I felt a load and picked up the tip nice and steady see.
FISH ON!!   I didn't think it was gonna measure up, but it was just 25" on the dot. WHEW!!  I tied it up to the yak and had a pet/buddy for the rest of the paddle(hoping to UP-size it later)

It all happened because the MASTER had given me a couple of his "Insane  Specialties" ( BEASTSMELTS )
I've tried/targeted a butt from my boat, shore, charter to no avail....and now got one from MY KAYAY!

#1 ~ the 6:oo launch

#2 ~ Tim on the hunt

#3 ~ the BEASTSMELT after the assaulting( it suffered a bloody eye only)

#4 ~ the conditions that I NEVER WOULD.....I DID!....IT PAID!

#5 ~ the SHOT of a lifetime pay-off!

Nice halibut Adam.  I still haven't caught one of those on my kayak.
So, when are you going to come out and try for a lingcod?

BTW, you need to put that fish up on the AOTY board and bump Mooch down a notch. :)

Couldn't and wouldn't of done it without NCKA and the COOL-ASS people that make it #1 !!
Thanks to AL of ya' for the kind words....
J ~ it had to be at least 15 Butt trips for not

BTW, you need to put that fish up on the AOTY board and bump Mooch down a notch. :)

Brian~ It was all i could think about til I got back to work!

I released it when i got back to the launch. It swam under my yak for the remaining 2.5hrs of hunting. I named it and could not bring myself to hitting or bleeding it.......how could you kill something with such BEAUTIFUL-BULDGING-SPECKELED-EYES?!?!

Wonder what did you name it? :smt003

Sorry about my late post.  Too much things going on after return to work after a 3-day weekend.  Here are some pictures I took on that day.  I got 3 good hits and 1 hooked-up but it's only 17.5" so back to the water it goes.  Tim aka vwtech also caught one about 16" and also released.

Thank you Duane for the live baits:
