Hi, Jason here, new memeber. I've fished from the shore a lot and enjoy paddling around (without fishing).. I think I'll be going on my first kayak fishing trip in august with a friends boat. I've been researching boats myself. I haven't seen anything on this forum about Field and Stream kayaks. I looked at the Eagle Talon 120 - is this not suitable for the ocean?

Thanks for having me on the forum..

Welcome to the site. I googled the kayak and read a little about it. I couldn’t find any info on how it is made. Some kayaks are two halves that are screwed together and better kayaks are single piece roto-molded. I wouldn’t buy a two piece kayak. Most all the reviews say how horrible the seat is. Do you really want to buy a kayak that will be uncomfortable to use? It also sounds like hatches leak and things easily break off. You might be better served by looking for a good deal on a quality used kayak. It might not look shiny and new or have the latest features but you’ll have a solid kayak. If you’re going to fish the ocean you definitely want a quality kayak.  :smt006

The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of what is elusive but attainable, a perpetual series of occasions for hope.  ~John Buchan

Friend own em, they’re super heavy... a pain to paddle doesn’t track well, better off getting a good used kayak at the same price...tarpon or trident maybe ...

I agree as to what SlackedTide said. Buy a nice used kayak.
