Hobie Outback rudder control lines

The bungie cord that keeps my rudder T handle retracted came unattached. Not only can I not reach that far back where it should be, I can't even see it. There's a knot at the end of the bungie cord that hooks into something, according to Hobie's website, but it doesn't show exactly what it is or where it's located. Has anybody else come across this problem? Thanks.

The bungee material is not anchored to anything. It runs along side the up/down control cord to keep the slack out.

The grey is the line that goes to the rudder. The Black is the line that goes to the “T”. The Bungie is what is crimped on with the metal. This is my rear hatch.

Thanks Threemoney3. That's what I have. The shock cord is still attached to the line, but the other end is unattached. Shouldn't it be anchored to a fixed point on the kayak?

Nope. Imagine the orange is the shock cord and the camo is the rudder up down control.

EDIT: I reread those instructions and I see what you mean about the anchor point. Mine did not come that way so either those instructions are old or my kayak is wrong. Um, I’m going to go check my other hobie and see how it is. What year is yours? Mine is a 2015.

Without the bungee cord your rudder control line would be dangling outside. With it, it would spring back inside your Hull for cleanness.

Ok, double checked on the other hobie. Both the 2015 revo and 2017 outback do not use a bungee anchor point. It’s laid out as I showed in the picture, tied to the line.

Ahhh, mine is a 2012. But now that I see yours and think about it, I don't need an anchor point. Wow! Thanks, I can figure it out, I think. Hobie needs to make changes to their manual.

I just went out and checked. You are absolutely correct. I can see now where one end of the shock cord came unconnected from the line itself. Bingo! Thanks again!
