"You need to keep a DIY repair kit in your kayak at all times.  The kit should include:
•Small roll of duct tape
•Battery powered cautery pen
•Scrap plastic that matches your boat 4.
•JB Water Weld epoxy putty
•Zip ties
•Alcohol swabs"

How about adding a couple of sawhorses with 100 ft leg extensions to your kit?

Hhhmmm....

I would have put skills more like:

1. How to quickly self rescue

2. How to effectively use a bilge pump if your kayak takes on water

3. What to do if conditions prevent you from returning to where you launched from

4. How to contact help in case of an emergency for yourself or someone else

5. How to navigate to safety if fog or darkness prevent you from seeing landmarks

6. How to successfully land your target species once you get them to the kayak

7. How to take care of any fish you take to maximize the quality of the meat

But that's just me...

I don't think these will fit inside the hull  :smt003

Yeah agreed.  Keep your boat afloat with you in it, get it to where you want it to go, talk to others if you have to.  In that order.  Borrowing the idea of aviate, navigate, communicate from flying lessons.

LOL.

The piece should have been called, "7 Previously Written Kayak Angling Articles We Want You To Read"

In Loving Memory of Mooch, Eelmaster, Shicken, and Cabeza De Martillo

I started kayak fishing to get away from most of you...

Who the hell does plastic welding or applies JB weld on the water? A fish finder is nice to have, but it is far from mandatory.

The only thing I might add to Big Jim's list is how to do a buddy rescue - knowing how to help someone else back on their kayak.  But Big Jim's is an excellent list as is.

Yeah both could end up in the water if the rescuer doesn’t have the know how also.
