Got out at 7, low fog, but I could see Pescadero/Cypress shore as I paddled right straight out to the deep water closest to the launch.  I've been packing a salmon rig for a day when the wind and swells were down, and today was it, trolled purple haze hootchie and purple flasher, 1 1/2 lb ball for about an hour, got out to about 500 fow and no action at all.
Then I hit the Pinnacles and didn't do too well, tho I managed an underling.  Then I trolled a minnow lure and got a bunch of nice olives ( or maybe some were Calicos, I'll go back to the harbor and look in the garbage for the red eyes!) and a couple of nice Vermillion, as well as two more underlings.  A skiff showed up, he'd been having a slow day jigging too.  The fish were stuffed with anchovies.
The wind never got up and I stayed out, mostly in 100-125 FOW near Cypress and the Tower House until I left at 1, landed at 1:30. Paddled about 8 miles.
They are building what looks like a wheelchair ramp between the launch stairs and the wharf, on the wharf side of the railing; looks like it might be wide enuf for a Roleez.  Still a rocky mess and a 2 ft  last step at the beach, it's a carry down deal now, probably will be all summer.
Heard some charter caps talking at the SC Harbor, salmon straight out in 180-200 fow, bait balls, birds working, maybe it's picking up?

Sounds like you had a nice day, Tom.  Good for trying the troll.

Thanks for the report, Tom.  Wish I could've joined you.

180-200' deep is probably around 3mi from the harbor (someone like SCAllen could probably confirm), but Martin proved there are strays in closer, too.  Might be worth a shot.

gotta try for the salmon, though they have been elusive this year.  How deep do you troll the minnow lure?
