Update First Rockfish Non-Yak

Was looking through some pictures and found one of me holding a small rockfish. Looks like we went out of Bodega Bay and then up to Arch Rock. My dad took me fishing a few times a year on charter boats. Probably around 1963-64  this time.

I posted  the pictures on Coastside and a member responded with the recent photo. He said the location is Arch Rock Anacapa Island Southern California. Most likely went out from Ventura Marina. I don’t remember it at all, but great to know.

Both pictures were shot by my father on the same day. I do not remember this trip so I don't know for sure where we went out of. Most trips we took were out of the SF Bay Area and since the arched rock in the picture is almost an exact match to Arch Rock I am guessing that is where we went. I think Arch Rock(the one at Goat Rock Beach) was to far to go from the SF Bay so I was thinking we we out from Bodega(Arch Rock is about 5 miles north). The fish cleaning tray is out on the side of the boat so we are almost back in the second picture.

Anywhere we went on vacation there was a fishing trip included if any body of water was nearby. I know we went to the World Fair in Seattle in 1964 so the pictures could be from there  but I am not familiar with that area.

The pictures could be anywhere from San Diego to Canada.

Not Arch Rock off of Goat Rock north of Bodega Bay. I paddled through that arch rock once and the gap was narrower and no rock on the seaward side of it. Calm going in but what a rush of water from the sea side once I was half way through. Last time for that.
