Gonna really try to make it this time...halibut are one of the few fish I like to keep.

Is the name of the High School by the launch Encinal? Just wondering so I can map it.

Thanks!
Yes! Dustin, there is a long driveway that leads to the launch ramp (chain-linked fence on both sides). north of the highschool.

Hmm, about 1hr away from me.... Santa Cruz is only 25 min away. Could someone please PM and teach me how I can get bait around SC area? I was thinking of trying to catch some small kings tonight but you guys are talking about throw nets and all, how do you know where the balls of baits will be and how can I catch alot in a short time? Thanks. James

Can we catch baits early in the morning, let's say 4:30am then meet at the launch around 5:30am?

Hey all,

Does anyone have an extra net they can bring along, that my buddy Nate could use on the water?

Won't be using it - I'll net for him - it's just for regs...  So any legal net will work.....

Thanks in advance!

Craig

Sailfish, thanks!  I will meet you there at whatever time to borrow the net.  We'll return it to you when you call it quits.  I appreciate the OK offer - if I could figure out a way to get it down here, I would...  I am trying to talk Nate into gettin an OK.   But Rick says he can bring his Necky along and it's a good yak and fine for this water, so that would do for Nate.

Bringing the extra net would be very cool though.

Adam I thought ya needed a net but maybe a gaff fulfills regs...?    I'm a netter not a gaffer, so I just instinctively go for the net thing.   :smt085

If your friend needs a gaft, I will bring my extra one since I just got the NCKA's "official" gaff and want to put it to work  :smt007

Cool... I'm gonna owe you a six pack duane  :smt004

Following google map, Encinal High is in the proximity of Central Ave and 3rd st. There appear to be a lot of streets leading to the water front so, where exactly is the launch spot? Could anyone provide the exact street name?

And is it possible to get a phone num from someone just in case?

How about parking? Is it safe in the area?

BTW: I'm from SJ/campbell area. I've got a pickup and can take another yak. Let me know if anyone wants to carpool.

See you all.
James

Hi jloo283 ,

Goto Google Map and type "Alameda Park, CA" then zoom in closer, you'll see the the parking lot, the boat ramp, next to the football arena.

Not gonna make it.  Also, a heads up for folks without a castnet, Mikes Bait (corner of E18th&14th) in Oakland sells live shiners now.

Good luck everyone!
