So my tax return has finally arrived and now it is time to pickup a couple of kayak carts.

Does anyone have any experience with these carts or this company: http://www.suffolkkayak.com/

I know a lot of people here really like the roleez but I think the tires on these suffolk carts look more all around versatile for where I might go. Same height and width of the roleez sand tires but with traction. Also they have a version that the tires comes off and folds down into something that might fit in my tourers hatches.

Thanks,

Jeff

Those tires don't look wide enough - they don't look light either. Granted I 've never seen or heard of 'em, I still think the roleez is the "go to" brand...simply because it's :smt045 been proven and tested at the very worst conditions = at Elk

Storage can be as issue with the rolezz, but you can always deflate the tires to make 'em fit better. You'll just need to bring a small pump for it.

...just my 2 cents :smt002

hmmm, 17 pounds? Sounds a little heavy. I think my Roleez is about 5 pounds. Plus the sand on it.
My only other experience with a cart is an Ocean Kayak model that works with their scupper pro. The tires are narrow, but tall. My brother in law has put a helluva lot of miles on his and its still works fine.

You will eventually be TICKED if you don't get the Roleze.
You can plow through stuff or ride on top of it.
Just ask Travis. :smt044
Check out the difference in the tracks.

Did the blonde pulling the yak sell ya on this cart?? :smt003

I believe what da boyz say, tested and true. I'm thinking of getting the mini kayak cart just to save some space below deck. Anyone have any experience or hear of anything on this one yet. BTW my Hobie cart self destructed after 8 months of use. :violent4: Be ready if you have one...

Z, If your talking about this one, I'd suggest you stick to the original roleez. I bought 'em thinking the same thing about storage but found out that the straps were too short and the wheels themselves seemed too small. I returned it and got the big roleez in the end.

These are really made for the sit inside kayaks.

So roleez owners how do the sand tires perform in rocky or gravel paths? I mean I can't argue that for the sand the roleez wheels are perfect but I just don't see much sand these days. I really like the roleez for the more durable construction - it looks like those suffolk carts are probably pvc which I don't really trust anyway but I just can't get past the plastic tires, it looks like the first sharp rock you hit would leave you dead on the side of a trail.

The roleez tires do really well on sand and okay on rocks and pavement compared to other tires.  Other tires do much better on rocks and pavement but absolutely bog down in the sand.  Given the choice between the two and the fact that most beaches have sand, the Roleez carts are more popular with this crowd.

One option if you're really worried about it is to buy two sets of tires.   Buy a roleez cart and use the fat tires for days you travel on sand and then buy some cheaper thinner tires from harbor freight for pavement dragging.

That is exactly what I have been thinking. Thanks for the help everyone. Sean/SCWA I'll be in touch soon.

This has got me thinking...I've got two of the "standard" rolleez carts with the black treaded pneumatic tires. Will a pair of those fat sand tires fit on them? I always thought the axles on the standard cart were too short for the gray sand tires.

No they will not.
When I first tried my Roleze it was at Van Damme. There are plenty of rock on the beach and it was like pulling my golf cart behind me. I was amazed at how well it perforned and it was worth every penny.

Piscean, I have the same cart. The larger rolleeze wheels are a lot wider than the axles have room for. I'm going to turn some alum. axle extensions to fit the big wheels. They had wheels on sale during the winter but now they are on back order at full price in the 3/4" size axle.
Jeff - As far as carts go,I'd stay away from the PVC ones. You don't want your cart blowing-up when you're a long ways from your vehicle. The big rolleeze offer some shock absorption on the rocks and you can't beat them on the sand(trust me!)I tested. Like Tote's picture my custom tandem wheel cart buried itself in the sugar sand.

Well  :smt013
I thought as much. Guess I'll have to trade one for the fat tire model.

Randy converted his carts with parts from rolleze
