Curious as to what reel you guys are pairing this rod with?
if I'm not fishing I'm probably thinking about fishing

i have the 6'6 MH version.  when i initially was shopping i wanted the 7'0 M version but it wasn't available.  so i went with the shorter. im glad i did, especially for rf/ling.  these days its my slut rod, been everywhere,  gets used and abused all the time.  it does its job, and strong enough to yank on when snagged without fear or breakage.

reel, i used to run a shimano calcutta 400b on it, but have since replaced with a daiwa lexa 300winn.  i love the new setup for jigging and casting.  the lexa has a 7.x gear ratio great for a fast retrieve.  overall setup is really light and comfortable for all day jigging.

ive also seen videos of people landing tuna with trevalas.  that's gatta say something.

in the future i might add to my collection a M or ML just for kicks.

I looked on Shimano's website and it states that the Trevala 7' ML should have "Fuji SIC" guides but every site I've visited states that is has "Fuji
Hardloy" guides -_- I'm going to call Shimano later and get some clarifcation.

To answer this question, you have to look at what series trevala, not just the action.
There is Trevala, trevala f, and trevala s. All three are made with a different blank and use different guides in some cases. As I stated in a different post, just to say a 7 foot my is just half of the description, that would only narrow it down to 3 casting models.
To compare Apple's to Apple's, you also need to know which series you are looking for. A medium heavy of one may seem soft compared  to another.
I have a 7 foot MH that has the softer action for Salmon and Halibut and i also have a 7 foot MY that is more rigid, and better suited for Rockfish.
If you would like, I can check which is the firmer action, and be a little more specific, but that will have to wait for tomorrow.
Good luck with your decision

@Snazzyshun I'm planning on sticking my Penn Spinfisher 4500 on it.

@Yakhopper I've only looked at the regular, non S/F series. But you've got me thinking. Could you compare the regular series 7' ML (TVS70ML) to the F series 6'3" MH (TFS63MH)? Is there any tangible/serious benefit to the other higher end series?

@B0B Do you feel like the MH is too stiff at all?

Hmm, would the 7' med-light be capable of hauling in a sturgeon and chucking a 5oz weight? Or should I go with the 6'6" med for that? Oh, and I'm just wondering but how come a lot of heavier rods don't have cork handles?

Yes
Nice!

sorry for any confusion,  i forgot to actually answer your initial question.   the MH is totally fine for all purposes.  do i feel its too stiff? not at all for jigging.  but for NON jigging, yes. i have other setups that will handle the job better.  the MH is more of a kayak workhorse with the main purpose of just getting out there getting rf limits faster.  id imagine it not being able to cast too far from shore, and the action wouldn't be as fun to fish as say a M or ML.  i used to think to try and get an all porpose rod for multi species, but soon found out that its actual not practical, and i do enjoy fishing different rigs for different styles/ species.  these days i can say i narrowed it down to the trevala and a much longer 8'6 lamiglas that i use for halibut, salmon, etc.  those pretty much cover about 80% of my fishing. i cant say much for the travala ML, but i don't see why it wouldn't work for a utility rod thatll do what you need it to do.

Just ordered the 7' ML! I went fishing yesterday with my Ugly Stik Tiger 7' med from a short pier and didn't like it at all.

I've got TVC70ML, TVC66M and TVC66MH.
Usually pair them with an Abu Garcia Revo Beast or Lexa 300.

For rockfish/ling jigging with up to 4 oz. lures I prefer the 70ML - a 30 in. ling puts a good bend in that rod and makes the fight more fun.
For deeper jiggin > 150ft with up to 8 oz. lures I prefer the 66M or 66MH.

I've caught 4 thresher sharks up to 8.5ft long on the 66MH - it's a beast of a rod.

I have a 7' one piece Trevela rod I paired with a shimano tranx, w/ 50 lb braid on it. Got the reel for Xmas and I love the combo. I have not put it to the test on anything too big yet, but I have been fishing it side by side with my tiger med, with shimano  TLD15 and I like the more sensetive tip. I have been bouncing for butts and got a couple 25" to 28". super smooth. Great set up.
I DON'T LIKE FISHING, I LOVE IT!
