I have been yak fishing and reading the forums for a year now and finally got up the nerve to post w/ all the veteran fishinados. My son and I launched Sat.mid morning from the beach at New Brighton. I was trying out my new FF. Got an Id beep and cast my iron jig and pulled in a small red. Wow! So this is better than I ever expected. Well the rest of the morning was beautiful but unproductive until I quit trying to be so hi-tech . I was messing w/ my sabiki rig after seeing some bait fish; my plastic anchovie was unattended on the bottom...picked up the rod and I had my 1st legal Ling! Right at 24". I showed it off to some guy in a rental boat who asked me how we were doing and his response was "baby killer". My son and I laughed about that but it sure tasted good a few hours later with a beer batter and some tacos w/ a hot chipotle sauce. My son got one good size red but he has a sit inside and decided to land in the low surf w/ the fish on his spray skirt. You guessed it...the fish got lively just as he hit the beach and flipped back in the water. Lesson learned. Thanks to to everyone for all the great commentary and info, especially my friend Pete for getting me in this incredible sport.

Yeah, sometimes I, too, get caught up with all the gadgets, but when I least expect it, my line begins dancing! Still, I won't part with my toys!

Did the guy show you HIS catch? I'll bet not! Glad you shared your day on the water--keep the posts coming.
