GREAT GOING MAHI, now the eastside/eastbay gang are going to be painting there faces silver and black each time before they launch.....  This has the potential to look like a scene from GANGS OF NEW YORK, with Gaffs, fillet knives, and fish bats???? :brave:

Great going guys.  The conditions looked great up there.  Sonoma Co has been blowing like a mother for tooooooooo long.  Can't wait to get my rockfish swerve on.  And off course Team Bodega will have to come up with a hat.  Maybe with our new NCKA design, thanks to bsteves of um what team, oh ya Bodega.

Super fun weekend.  Great to hang with you guys.  I don't think I have laughed that hard for a while.  The ab diving was..interesting.  Saw about 20 abs in 3 hours of diving.  Very few "visible" fish on the inshore reef we were on.  Vis was about 3 ft.  Abs were 9-9.75.  No 10's.  What they lacked in length the made up for in girth.  Damn they were heavy.  Nice hangin with Swellrider and his bro on Friday night.  My buddy Mike and I fished the same spot the crew did Friday afternoon after diving.  We stayed out until about 7 pm. Saw 1 whale.  Kept 2 nice lings, a fat red, and a couple blacks.  It was probably the nicest day I have had on the ocean in a year.  No wind, glassy flat water, sunshine.  Hard to beat.  Hope to do it again soon.  Thanks Eric.

Dave,When we launched that spot was so abby looking, except it was dirty on the inside. There were a few OG's rock pickin. But I think if you went outside the shore reef it would have been a killer spot for
fish and abs.
Glad you did OK and no visit from the tax man!

Dave - thanks for the report.  That's awesome that you guys had a good day diving out of the Mouth area - it's a once a year type of opportunity with the water that flat and the wind cooperating too.  Good to meet you guys.

Mark - I used to think that; as a matter of fact I was sure of it!  But every time I go offshore in Humboldt to find the abs that I was sure are out there I find silt and a lack of abs.  I think it's too wide open and murky so much of the year that it's not good habitat outside - it's not as protected and rocky as Bragg and other points south where habitat is good well offshore.  I've gotten almost all of my 10's and 11's in less than 20' of water nearshore.  I pointed two of those OG's (old guys?) toward a rockpile where I knew they could pull an 8 without putting heads under.  When I launched on Friday I paddled over to an 8" ab that I found about 6 weeks ago and felt it from my kayak - I'll pull it another day, because I know it won't move!  The habitat's not good enough for abs to move much up here.

Thanks again for coming up, guys.   :smt001

The migraine progressed into a brief stint of  :puke: :puke: :puke: followed by heavy drugs and a LONG nap.  I really hate migraines...

That sucks, I've had migranes do that to me many times. I had chronic migranes until I was 20.. I feel ya. They didn't have any meds back then so I just had to go home from school or wherever and hide under the blankets and let it run it's course. My doctor came through like Merlin with a med called Imitrex. I don't get migranes that often anymore but when I do, I take one and it usually takes care of it or makes it very tame. I had full bore migranes with vision impairment, numbness, puking, and major head pain that lasted minimum 24 hours and this med stops it. I even had my all time worst 6 months ago which left me in the ER and an Imitrex injection saved me in 2 hours. Go to the doc, get these, and keep one in your wallet. They'll save your day.
