Just an FYI: Sunrise Mountain Sports will be there to host a kayak demo:  http://www.sunrisemountainsports.com/Newsletter/spring2007.pdf

That's funny--I posted this announcement the other day and everyone balked at having to pay to test kayaks so I removed the thread.  Hmmm......

Yo Pacifico, whats the difference between the w30 and the w20? I have the 20.Great camera.

According to their marketing...the waterproofness seems to have been enhanced a bit.
w20 - good for 30 minutes at up to 5 feet
w30 - good for 2 hours at up to 10 feet
Looks like maybe the w30 also has auto locking door mechanisms...not sure if it wasn't available on the w20 but I do see all the warnings from everyone on the board saying to make sure "the doors are locked".

But that seems to be about it from what I see.

I've only had it since yesterday and while it's easy to use I'm not terribly impressed yet.  Maybe my mind will change once I get a bit more familiar with it.  I have to admit I keep looking for that view finder (I'm old school that way) but it's not there on this camera.

At least for the next few minutes, it looks like the w30 is the latest and greatest in the series.

Olympus also has the 770 SW which is waterproof up to 30 feet and can withstand a drop from 5 feet...according to their marketing.  I was thinking of buying it but couldn't convince myself to spend the extra $120.

Janice - people were just voicing out their opinions.....that was nothing personal....it's just  some people don't seem to realize that these kayak demos make it a lot easier for a total newbie to get the chance to test paddle different yaks and also get valuable advise from the various reps that are there. It may seem expensive to pay that kind of money to demo kayaks but how often do you get all the different kayak manufactures together in one water front spot?

And you can't really compare "paying" to demo a sports car to demoing a kayak.....coz kayaks are much cooler  :smt002

I personally wouldn't pay to go to these events - unless there were new models that I have not paddled yet....but that's just me :smt002
