I've been calling up a bunch of places that usually sell live anchovies and have been told that they won't start selling again until later on in the spring. Does anyone know where to get them? Preferably near Berkeley or in SF.

Live bait is seasonal, sounds like you know when and where itll be available again.  Until then, float a sabiki under a bobber for jacksmelt and perch if you want live ones.

Not open yet...

Thank you Eddie.
Throw your net or sabiki for shiner perch, they are the tasty live bait of the season.  Just gotta find em'  Smelt work well also but they are kinda big now but I've seen some small ones.  Stripers and Hali's eat all of it....

Thank you!

I probably should have added; if you're fishing in the bay, there's a hook restriction (maximum of 3 hooks I think, double check the regs) so trim down the saki before deploying.
