It was absolutely great meeting so many of the NCKA folks at Crabfest 2018, thank you!!!  Now, I can use some help....Please help - Can anyone help me with the link to the thread for the Shelter Cove event for 2018?

There are a complete list of rules in the link on the first post.

Now, there's "need", and then there's "need".  I think it best to have redundant navigation equipment.  2 GPS (fish finder and phone), 2 or 3 compasses and the local topography and bathymetry committed to memory.  Shelter cove is remote and it can go from zero to nautical in a matter of minutes on a day that was forecast <5kts variable.  It can also get W0X0F in a hurry.  So yeah, even if you don't need GPS, you need GPS.

Well looks I will have to fin a cheap one. . That’s wierd you don’t need fishfinder/gps to catch fish and be safe.

Well looks I will have to fin a cheap one. . That’s wierd you don’t need fishfinder/gps to catch fish and be safe.

Most smartphones have a native GPS.  Download the navionics app, load the maps for shelter cove before you leave home, done and done.  App is about $10.

I disagree about not needing GPS and it isn't weird at all.  It's Eric's tournament and his rules, cultivated after 40 years of experience fishing in Shelter Cove.  He knows what he is doing.
