You purchase fishing license online. Printer broken and leaving now for a trip. Took a picture of your purchase or saved the confirmation email.
Question: can you legally fish even though you do not have the physical paper proof?

+1

Wardens are unlikely to cut you any slack, so definitely not worth the risk, IMHO.

I wouldn't try it, but if you could display the print version on your phone, why not. Does it have to be on paper?

The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of what is elusive but attainable, a perpetual series of occasions for hope.  ~John Buchan

Most hotels have office centers with that capability. If you were local to me it would be trivia to print at my office. Kinkos UPS store etc. should all be able to do it and those places are often 24 hours.

A copy from your everyday type office copier or cell phone photo of your hunting and or fishing license is not acceptable .It must be something that cannot be "altered" . There`s no way to know if the copy/photo has been altered therefore their rejected .  The only acceptable item is the license itself OR a duplicate which can be purchased at a license agent.

Then again maybe you'll find a sympathetic officer

When your annual sport-fish license online they give you a temporary license that you are supposed to print from home and use until your annual license arrives in the mail.

The best thing to do would be to print this temporary license on some sort of all-weather paper. I would also save the temporary license as a PDF on your phone should the printed version get soaking wet.

I would fish.
Play the odds. What are the chances of you getting asked for your license?
And if you are, what are the chances you'll be cited?
And if you are, what are the chances you'll lose in court when you can show that what's on your phone and the actual license that you do receive match?

in Florida they have an app and all your licenses are in it.

CA is supposed to be the leader in tech but there is no app.
