Hi! I'm Ryan in Mountain View. I recently started surf fishing, and lately I've been eyeing a kayak as a way to get out to deeper water. But I'm sure joining this site will cure me of this madness.

Well my first rod and reel just arrived yesterday from Amazon, so, uh, let me get back to you on that.

But I grew up in the Santa Cruz mountains, so I'm quite familiar with the beaches along the San Mateo coast, especially south of San Gregorio. I just haven't fished them yet, heh.

Regarding bay waters, I haven't yet decided how I feel about eating fish from San Francisco Bay (and Tomales Bay). If pollution makes them tastier, that might sway my opinion.
