Here I am sitting at my computer about 12:00 friday night and all of a sudden WHAM and another WHAM. I get up and go outside cause I know one of our parked cars just got slamed. O.K. I go by my Tahoe and it seems to be alright and then I saw my sons girlfriend car a small mazda3 had been hit and the car that hit it. So I go to see if the person is alright and he's trying to start the car and leave. I look in the car to see if anyone else is in the car. Nobody else was in it. The guy a young kid early 20ies gets out and says dont call the police I dont have any insurance. I say without thinking its to late for that. Cause my son was on the line with 911. Ends up he did hit my Tahoe  anyhow. I ask him if he is alright then I ask him for his I.D. and he keeps on saying dont call the police repeadly. And then he sucker punches me to the left side of my head.  :smt013
And now we get into a fist fight. I am going to leave out most the details about the fight but I lasted about 5 minutes and this guy is taking on me and my son. It took a long time for the police to show up. My son could not do much cause he has a broken collar bone right now from a motorcycle accident 3 days prior. Just towards the end of this brawl he had me on my back and got a good hit to my head and my son went balistic he started kicking him in his ribs but the guy would not get off still. I grabed him by the head so he could not hit me very hard. I dont know how many of those I could take Iam not a young pup anymore. So I put my fingers into his eyes then he stoped tring to hit me and tried to get off. My son kicked him in the head and that dazed him for a while and he is still cusing me out from the ground. Then he gets up and runs away cause the cop were about a quarter mile away. He ended up giving up to the police the only smart thing he did that night. The kid was drunk and on drugs is what the police said. I always thought you are suppose to go to the aid of others and help. But I dont think I will do that in a case like this again. If I dont know the person F them. Heres my problem. I am a diabetic type II. Now both my feet are all bandage up cause in this fight most of the skin from my toes and the ball of my feet got peeled off and I have a broken cheek bone on top of that. It will take months to get my feet back in shape again if I dont get an infection. People that are diabetic at some point could have problems with blood cerculation at the lower extremeties and the eyes. I already have problems with my feet. So becareful when you go to help people you dont know.

So sorry to hear that Bud. It's hard to do the right thing when there are so many idiots out there. Too bad you did not have a gun to help him stay there quietly. I hope you heal well. Randall

Geez, reelfish, you're one badass! Several years ago my daughter who drives an ambulance was transporting a druggie on marijuana and speed, and the guy broke out of four-point restraints and had her female partner in a choke hold. Fortunately a CHP unit was behind them and wrestled the guy down, but it took six guys at the hospital to restrain him. Scary stuff.

Hope you heal quickly but especially do take good care of your feet. (BTW: For your wife--The Mysterious Tadpole by Stephen Kellogg)

So Sorry to hear about this, it's just so not worth it. More than once I've been in situations where the BS turned on me when I was just trying to do the right thing.  Here's the really screwed up thing, good chance you could have went to jail if in the heat of the moment things went really weird.

Even when I get on scene of inccidents now and the perp is leaving the scene..

     " He went That-A-Way..."  Screw it...People Suck!!! :smt011

                     Humans are OK though :smt002

Tough spot to be in.... Just seen to many good samaritans be taken down over the years with the
senseless violence getting worse by the day.  Just best to stand aside, let their asshole ego have it's moment and be ready to Act :kungfu

Sad what happened to you, here you are just trying to help and they just light up anyway,

should be able to shoot on site, but then your the Bad Guy,  Just not right....

Really hope you recover soon, take care, ya did the Human thing and paid the price for A-holes..

     Get back to Yak soon..........Danglin

That totally sucks.  But don't let it spoil you outlook on all people.  They are not all like that.  Most are OK.  Look out when they are in the wrong though, a cornered animal will act irrationally.  Take care and heal fast.  Carma will get him and the law already has started on him.

Kevin, glad to hear your OK.....could have been worse if this idiot was armed with a gun or a knife.

Best way to deal with idiots is not to - coz they have nothing to loose :smt002

That is brutal. I hope you heal fast.

I got rear ended in my truck by a couple of punk kids right after getting my new truck. I just happened to be coming home from the batting cages. :smt003 One of them brilliant kids was stupid enough to show a little foldback knife trying to intimidate as he was getting out of the car, acting all tough. I pretended to be Barry Bonds. There was no damage to my vehicle as the hitch tongue and reciever took the impact. I settled with a donation of both driver licenses. I would have let them go after seeing no damage anyways. Things could have gone bad if they had a gun with them.

It is always best to walk away. Period.

Kevin,

Hope you get better soon. What a bummer. You may not know me, but I used your place of employment to make a bunch of precision parts at a company I used to work for. You guys do great work.

Get better soon and hope to see you on the water

That sucks! Sounds like you gave him a good battle.

This is my theory; Be courteous, polite, and nice to everyone, but always have a plan to kill them. :smt003

Hope you and your son recover quickly. I hope that SOB gets a hundred fold of what he gave to you and yours.
It is hard to subdue someone who is on drugs. Especially when trading blows.
I taught martial arts for over 20 years. Do whatever you can to either escape or win. And do not stop if the person is merely dazed. A wounded dog can still bite you so make sure that dog is beyond wounded; totally incapacitated. Keep it that way until the authorities arrive.
I know it sounds harsh but that is the reality of the kind of situation you were in.
I think a decent pair of light weight waders and a little aid on entering and exiting your kayak might be just what you need on the road to recovery.
I would be more than happy to help you out with that when you are ready.

Sorry to hear this Kelvin,
Don't let individuals or bastards like this(take your pick) change anything about you.
Some years ago I was walking home and I heard a women scream. Searching for where the scream came from, I saw a man holding a woman down on the ground and punching her in the face. I could see the blood on her face. Without thinking I charge into the situation. As soon as I got close enough I kneed this man in the side, knocking him off the woman . I then jump on top of him and started returning the favor ( what can I say, I was young then). I tried to yell to the woman to run and call the police, hence the word try. Half way through the sentence
the woman sucker punch me in the jaw and kept right on punching and kicking, then yelled get off of my man you M.....F......
I manage to get out of the situation before she could drawn blood. As I backed away a neighbor yelled do your a favor and mind your own business  and walk away, they do this all the time. As the man was geting to his feet, the woman was cussing me out , stoping in between cuss words to spit blood out of her mouth. As soon as the man was standing straight, he yelled bitch and try to hit  her again. He missed, She then tried to knee him , she didn't miss. Now the man was  on the ground and this lovely woman was beating the hell beat out of him, as their neigbors cheered them on.
I simply followed the neigbor's advice. I would still help a person in a situation like that, only these days...I never leave home without my teddy bear...GLOCKY.

Speedy recovery my friend, we've fishing to do in the Delta.
Why Do I paddle a kayak instead of a float tube or a pontoon boat? I like seeing where I'm going not where I've been!
Paddle safe and wrap'em tight.
